the foundation What is Your Community Foundation ? The Greater Edwardsville Area Community Foundation is a charitable trust that receives, manages, and distributes tax deductible, charitable contributions for the benefit of the greater Edwardsville area and its residents. Who manages the assets of the Foundation? TheBank of Edwardsville is the Trustee of the Foundation. The Trustee calls upon a committee of experienced professionals to direct the investment of the Foundation's assets and monitor the performance of those investments. Who administers the Foundation's affairs? The affairs of the Foundation are governed by a volunteer board of directors, all of whom serve without pay. Each director is a local resident elected to the Board because of demonstrated concern for the future of the Edwardsville area. What are the sources of Foundation funds? Your Community Foundation accepts contributions from private citizens, local businesses, and other organizations interested in serving the charitable needs of the area. The Foundation has been certified by the Internal Revenue Service as 501(c)(3) organization. As a result, contributions are deductible by the contributor. How will my donation be used? You have many options for giving. You may advise the Board of Directors regarding specific projects or organizations you choose to fund. A contribution to the General Fund authorizes the Board to distribute your contribution as the Board deems appropriate in response to grant requests or to meet obvious charitable needs. You may want to consider the establishment of a Special Fund within the Foundation. |
